This monograph systematically records complete taxonomic data of 139 species of Melanospora fungi in 22 genera in Kazakhstan, including Russian and Latin descriptions of the distinctive characteristics of widely distributed species, rare species and newly discovered species. Studies have pointed out that this type of fungus has both parasitic and saprotic characteristics: parasitic species can cause diseases to crops and wild economic plants, causing significant harm to agricultural and forestry production; saprotic species participate in the material cycle in nature by decomposing organic matter. The book provides an overview of fungi in this order, a key to genera and species, and original taxonomic descriptions of each species (including key data such as characterization of host plant damage symptoms, distribution points and geographical spread of fungi in Kazakhstan). The book is equipped with 71 fine microscopic illustrations and 5 comparison tables. It not only serves as a benchmark reference book for mycological research in Kazakhstan, but also extends its application value to Central Asian republics, other regions of the Soviet Union and international research fields. It has become a must-have reference material for mycologists, plant pathologists, agronomists and biology educators.
