<p>The monograph is divided into four parts. The first part explores the natural and socio-economic aspects of desertification. The second part showcases the experience of countries in the world, including Africa, the Near East, South Asia, North and South America, and Australia, in combating desertification. The third part focuses on the Soviet Union's experience in developing arid areas on the basis of comprehensive regional development, and lists examples of typical arid areas such as the "black soil" of the Karelian Autonomous Republic, the grasslands of Uzbekistan, the Karakum Canal of Turkmenistan, and the Vahsh Valley of Tajikistan. The fourth part is the conclusion, which summarizes the contents of the first three parts and provides the methods and comprehensive planning for economic development in arid areas in a refined form. </p>
