This book is a comprehensive monograph on the vegetation and forage resources of the Betpak-Dala Desert. After providing a brief introduction to the desert's geographical location, geomorphological and geological features, hydrological and climatic conditions, and soil characteristics, the book reviews the history of botanical research in the region and outlines the composition of its flora. It then presents a systematic description of the principal characteristics of the vegetation cover, organized by major vegetation types such as desert, steppe, meadow, shrub, and woodland communities. The volume also analyzes the chemical composition and forage value of the principal plant species. Based on vegetation characteristics, it delineates the natural regions of the desert and evaluates the forage resources of each region together with their prospects for economic utilization. The book concludes with a checklist of the flowering plants of the desert and a bibliography.
