<p>This collection of papers, compiled by the Institute of Geography of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, focuses on natural fluctuations in river runoff and the effects of human activities, including: Water quantity standard of West Siberian rivers and changes of abundance and drought; Fluctuation of water volume in rivers in North Kazakhstan; Changes in river runoff by agricultural activities; Analysis of natural and anthropogenic factors in runoff in the southern and outer Volga region; Experiment on the effect of soil farming on runoff; Changes in runoff caused by water conservancy improvement in the Huaihe River Basin. </p>
