<p>This book explores key issues in sediment control in irrigation systems, including the prevention and control of sedimentation in irrigation channels, the deposition laws of sediment in sedimentation tanks and reservoirs, artificial circulation methods to reduce sediment input at water intake and river bed erosion. Based on field observations (Amu Darya, Tejan River, etc.) and model experiments (Demitrov Experimental Base), the study proposed comprehensive measures to protect the irrigation system from sediment, such as sedimentation tank design, application of diversion system and river bed management technology. The book also summarizes the practical experience of irrigation systems across the Soviet Union (Central Asia, the Caucasus, Ukraine, etc.), with special attention to the case of the Amu Darya River Basin. </p>
