<p>This collection of papers was compiled by the Institute of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. It systematically studies the environmental evolution and resource management issues of the Ili River-Balkhash Lake Basin. The content covers: Balkhash Lake hydrological control plan, ecological crisis management in the Ili River Delta, assessment of glacier reserves in the basin (including vertical zone distribution), heavy metal migration laws in agricultural irrigation areas, and characteristics of the atmospheric pressure field in the lake area in winter. Special attention is paid to the impact of human activities on the water-salt balance in the basin, and a land productivity assessment system based on soil ecological index is proposed. </p>
