The regional sand material data set of some Taklimakan Desert (1960-2021) includes all sediment grain size data and measured data contained in all existing literature from 1960 to 2021 in the entire Taklimakan Desert. The dataset spatially covers most of the entire Taklimakan Desert, focusing on desert margins and transition zones. All data are measured data from scientific and technological literature with a time resolution of 1 year

The data set consists of two data sources, most of which were retrieved from published scientific and technological literature, and a small part is measured data from 2019 to 2021.
"There are two methods to process this data. One is to download most of the literature directly from the Internet and collect sediment grain size characteristics from various places from these articles. The other is installation by the project team personnel. All data comes from field collection. During the collection process, the collection method of sand material samples described in the book "Wind-sand Landforms of the Kumtagg Desert" is strictly followed, that is, select at the sampling point. A sand surface with an area of about 20cm * 20cm, uniformly collect sand particles with a surface of 0-1 cm, and the sample weight is 500-1000 g. During the later sample processing process, the Laser Particle Size Laboratory of Shaanxi Normal University with particle size measurement qualifications was selected for indoor analysis. The particle size analysis used a Malvern 3000 particle size analyzer, and the measurement results were volume percentages. Since only the average particle diameter is found in the literature, some data produced by the project team in this data set also obtained the average particle diameter. "
This dataset is mainly aimed at global sand-related research groups. The quality accuracy of the data obtained from the literature has been reviewed by paper review experts, and the data quality is qualified. 2019-2021 The annual measured data is in accordance with the national standard of the People's Republic of China, particle size distribution laser diffraction method GB/T 19077-2016/ISO 13320:2009, and the data is qualified.
