<p>This book is a systematic monograph on hydrogeography of the Soviet Union. The first part comprehensively introduces the basic characteristics of land water bodies in the Soviet Union, including: Distribution patterns of rivers, glaciers, groundwater, lakes and swamps; History of hydrological research (from ancient times to the Soviet Union); River basin structure, density and main river shape data; River recharge sources and runoff influencing factors (natural and anthropogenic); Interannual and intra-annual changes in runoff, ice conditions, erosion and hydrochemical characteristics; Regional hydrological differentiation (e.g. Eastern European plains, Siberia, Central Asia, etc.). </p>
