AB  - During the Soviet era, the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic became a republic with a highly developed industrial sector and intensive agricultural production. The rapid growth of the economy and culture required systematic and active research into natural conditions and resources, territorial production complexes, and their individual components. One form of the scientific analysis and synthesis of such research is integrated mapping of the various components of nature, the economy, and the population. This is a special method of providing a comprehensive and multifaceted representation of reality through the preparation of individual maps, map series, and atlases (both general geographic and thematic) for territories of different scales, including countries, union republics, provinces, and administrative districts. Such maps, series, and atlases constitute a unified and mutually complementary system of cartographic works (K. A. Salishchev).The tasks set forth in a number of resolutions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union concerning the rational distribution of productive forces, the utilization of natural resources, and the further development of the national economy determined the principal objective of integrated mapping in the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic: the preparation of thematic maps and comprehensive atlases covering all sectors of the national economy.At congresses of the All-Union Geographical Society, as well as at All-Union and regional scientific and production conferences on cartography, emphasis was placed on the importance of integrated mapping methods for representing various aspects of nature and society, and on the necessity of theoretical generalization and methodological work concerning integrated mapping.At the Second Congress of the All-Union Cartographic Society in 1947, it was noted that integrated mapping could develop along three principal directions:The compilation of integrated maps linking different c
