The East-West boundary of the region roughly coincides with the lines of 74 ° E and 80 ° e, and the North-South boundary roughly coincides with the lines of 42 ° N and 39 ° n.In terms of administrative subordination, the northwest of Tarim Basin belongs to Xinjiang province of the people's Republic of China. Its territory includes Shufu County, Yingjisha County, Atushi County, yuepuhu County, Bachu county and Maigaiti County in Kashgar region, and Keping County, Wushi county and Awati County in Aksu region.According to the surface morphology, the northwest of Tarim basin can be divided into three main landscape zones: Mountains - Southern Tianshan Mountains and Gongger mountains of Kunlun Mountains; Piedmont - Atush, bashsogon and Keping mountains; Plain area - Tarim depression and Taklimakan Desert within it.The main water system in the area is Kizilsu river. This study is a comprehensive compilation of geological structure data in the northwestern Tarim Basin. It is based on the materials obtained from the author's investigations in the region from 1941 to 1943 and from 1952 to 1953. In addition, the field data of H. A. beriyevsky (1942-1943) on keketong mountain, Tuoyun River Basin and Bachu highland, as well as the report data of 1:200000 scale surveying and mapping conducted by the 13th aerial geological exploration team of the Ministry of geology in Kashgar (geologists: Л. Б. Voitas, А. С. Makulin, Л. Н. Smirnov) in Shufu, Atush and uPAR regions of Kashgar region in 1952 were also used in the preparation process. The observation records of F. stolichka (1874), К. И. Pogdanovich (1889), K. Futrell (1898), Ф. Н. Cherneshev (1903), H. keder (1903), P. Graber (1908), Д. И. Mushketov (1916), e. Nolin (1931) and О. С.
