The focus is on the water chemical composition of the Volga River before regulation of runoff and the chemical characteristics of the Gorky Reservoir, Kubyshev Reservoir and Volgograd Reservoir. The data on the chemical composition of the Volga River and its reservoir water were obtained by the author after eight years of research on the Volga River (1954-1961). In addition, the author also used some data from other researchers. The monograph includes materials on the water chemical composition of the Volga River before and after runoff regulation, the water chemical composition of the Gorky Reservoir, Kubyshev Reservoir and Volgograd Reservoir, as well as ion runoff and biogenic material and organic matter runoff flowing into the Caspian Sea. The mixing and migration processes of water masses in reservoirs and rivers are discussed. This monograph can be used by a variety of experts engaged in research on the Volga River, including ichthylogists, hydrologists, staff of municipal institutions and enterprises, and experts in water conservancy and soil improvement.
