The meeting was jointly organized by the Department of geological geography of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic and the Ministry of Geology and mineral protection of the Soviet Union and the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. A total of 808 people attended.
