The author proposed a high-altitude synoptic classification of the causes of aircraft turbulence, and discussed thermal turbulence, terrain turbulence, frontal turbulence, power turbulence, cold advection turbulence, tropospheric "cold vortex" turbulence and jet turbulence. This manual is intended for weather forecasters, high-altitude meteorologists and aviation pilots.
