Studies have shown that in long-term forecasts, even if the most complete atmospheric state information is considered, stable positive effects may not always be obtained. The paper describes the important role played by solar energy in atmospheric heat transmission, aerosol composition, underlying surface humidity and other factors (including anthropogenic factors) in geophysical processes, which may affect the accuracy of long-term forecasts. The prospects for further research are discussed. The meteorological conditions that led to the August 1981 floods in the Amur River Basin were analyzed.This book is aimed at geographers and professionals in the field of hydrometeorological forecasting.
