考虑到对啮齿动物相关螨类研究的兴趣日益增长，以及对其鉴定工具的迫切需要，苏联科学院动物研究所主动承担了本鉴定表的编纂工作（《小型动物志》，第28辑）。本出版物是首次尝试编制所有在啮齿动物及其巢穴中发现的螨类类群的鉴定表，因此，自然无法做到详尽无遗。\n苏联境内各螨类类群的研究程度极不均衡。例如，恙螨和一些其他螨类的鉴定可精确到种，而研究薄弱（特别是非寄生性）类群的代表（如Oribatei、Tarsoenemini、某些Gamasoidea等）则只能鉴定到属甚至仅到科。本鉴定表收录了63科、75属和249种（含亚种）。\n参与本鉴定表编纂的有苏联科学院动物研究所的工作人员（Н.Г.布雷格托娃、В.Б.杜比宁、Е.Н.帕夫洛夫斯基、Г.В.谢尔久科娃），莫斯科国立大学昆虫学教研室（Е.М.布拉诺娃-扎赫瓦特金娜、А.А.扎赫瓦特金、А.Б.兰格），苏联医学科学院加马列流行病学与微生物学研究所寄生虫学与医学动物学部（А.А.泽姆斯卡娅、Е.Г.什卢格尔），以及列宁格勒应用动物学与植物病理学研究所（В.И.沃尔金）。\nЕ.Н.帕夫洛夫斯基撰写了前言、关于螨类意义及研究现状的绪论文章（附啮齿动物及其巢穴中发现的螨类名单）以及关于锐缘蜱科的章节；他还承担了鉴定表的总编辑工作。А.А.扎赫瓦特金撰写了螨类构造与发育总论、检索表（用于鉴定啮齿动物上发现的螨类总科及某些科），并与В.И.沃尔金共同完成了粉螨（或称仓螨）部分的撰写。Е.М.布拉诺娃-扎赫瓦特金娜撰写了关于甲螨的部分。В.Б.杜比宁提供了关于疥螨、毛螨和腺螨的章节，以及Myobiidae科螨类的总论；В.И.沃尔金撰写了肉食螨科（Cheyletidae）的内容和Myobiidae螨类的检索表。Е.Г.什卢格尔撰写了恙螨章节，并配有原创插图。А.Б.兰格编写了革螨总览以及Laelaps和Oryctolaelaps属的检索表；他还为这些部分制作了原创的显微制片图。А.А.泽姆斯卡娅编写并插图了Dermanyssidae科分类部分。Н.Г.布雷格托娃负责革螨其余部分（科级检索表，及Rhodacaridae、Parasitidae、Veigaiidae、Ascaiidae、Macrochelidae、Pachylaelaptidae科的简介，以及Haemogamasidae科和某些Laelaptidae科的检索表）。她还撰写了关于螨类采集方法的章节。Г.В.谢尔久科娃撰写了关于恙螨的章节。\n书中插图部分为原创，部分引自苏联及国外螨类学家的著作。\n动物研究所希望本书能有助于我国螨类区系材料的积极收集和对其研究不足类群的更深入研究。此外，本鉴定表对于流行病学、动物流行病学和农业相关的实验工作，以及寻找螨类防治措施也是必需的。\n关于鉴定表的任何意见和建议，动物研究所将欣然接受；请寄往：列宁格勒164，大学沿岸街1号，苏联科学院动物研究所。\n啮齿动物螨类鉴定表的工作将根据苏联螨类区系新材料的情况持续进行。动物研究所对寄送啮齿动物螨类材料将不胜感激；包裹请寄往同一地址。同时，也请寄送螨类研究著作的单行本或已发表著作信息，以供研究所图书馆收藏。\n苏联科学院动物研究所所长\n院士 Е.Н.帕夫洛夫斯基\n
