塔里木盆地西北部，或称西北喀什噶尔，包括南天山及与之毗邻的塔克拉玛干沙漠部分，总面积约10万平方公里。该区域的东西边界大致与东经74度和80度线重合，南北边界大致与北纬42度和39度线重合。\n在行政隶属上，塔里木盆地西北部属于中华人民共和国新疆省。其境内包括喀什专区的疏附县、英吉沙县、阿图什县、岳普湖县、巴楚县和麦盖提县，以及阿克苏专区的柯坪县、乌什县和阿瓦提县。\n根据地表形态，塔里木盆地西北部可分为三个主要景观带：山地——南天山和昆仑山的公格尔山；山前地带——阿图什、巴什索贡和柯坪山岭；平原区——塔里木洼地及其内的塔克拉玛干沙漠。\n所述区域的主要水系是克孜勒苏河。\n本研究是对塔里木盆地西北部地质构造资料的综合汇编。其基础是作者于1941-1943年以及1952-1953年在该区域进行考察所获得的材料。此外，在编写过程中，还利用了H.
