专著《吉尔吉斯斯坦自然》出版于1962年。当时，吉尔吉斯斯坦的顶尖科学家和专家们对截至那时所积累的自然环境各组成部分的时空变化规律研究成果进行了总结。在过去的半个世纪里，我们获得了新的数据，极大地补充了关于我们这个山地国家境内自然地理客体和过程特征的知识。这些知识体现在众多分散的出版物中。同时，在《吉尔吉斯苏维埃社会主义共和国地图集》（1987年出版）的编制过程中，对这些知识进行了基础性的综合整理，该地图集的出版得到了吉尔吉斯共和国国家科学院地质研究所地理研究室工作人员的积极参与，由研究室主任С. Умурзаков领导。考虑到自然要素基本参数在时间上具有天然的稳定性，本书在进行自然地理描述时，最大限度地利用了该地图集中所包含的信息。部分地图被收入本书。同时，作者特别关注了近几十年来由人类经济活动影响所引起的自然环境变化。\n本书面向广大读者，首先是那些对吉尔吉斯斯坦的地质、地貌结构、气候、水文、土壤、动植物界和景观等一般知识感兴趣的科学家、实践工作者、高校师生及中小学教师。因此，为了让使用者能够获得对其规律性的必要认识，作者设定了详细描述地理客体空间分布规律的任务。书中关于地理研究历史、地表剥蚀过程、特别自然保护区等章节，对读者也颇有参考价值。\n需要指出的是，将吉尔吉斯地理名称转写成俄语的问题尚未得到彻底解决，这给作者的工作带来了困难。通过采用2001年版《吉尔吉斯斯坦》百科全书中的转写方案，我们克服了这些困难。同时，那些与自然客体相关联并具有术语地位的地名，均保持原样未作改动。\n本专著共包含12章，阐述了吉尔吉斯斯坦自然地理的基本要素。
