在最近十年中，病毒学取得了显著成就。尤其是理论病毒学在此期间进展迅速。可以毫不夸张地说，病毒学说的理论问题目前在生命科学中占据了中心地位之一。\n然而，尽管取得了这些成就，病毒的本质仍然未被完全揭示。正如60年前俄国科学家德·伊·伊万诺夫斯基首次在世界上发现病毒时一样，我们至今仍未掌握决定性的证据来支持关于这些感染因子起源的某种观点，这表明需要在该领域大幅扩展实验研究。同时必须强调，在认识病毒本质方面取得的每一个新进展，都将有助于防治病毒性感染。\n我国在研究植物病毒病方面取得了显著成就。然而，这些认识在农业生产中尚未得到充分应用，也不符合社会主义农业所需的工作规模。考虑到我国巨大的播种面积、农作物的多样性及其栽培条件的复杂性，必须从根本上改进关于植物病毒病的实验研究以及防治措施的研发工作。\n为此，首先需要研究不同作物上常见的病毒病种类，并对这些疾病进行系统分类。同样众所周知的是，即使对于已研究过的病毒病，也尚未研发出足够有效的防治措施。因此在这方面也有广阔的研究领域。\n为了解决我国病毒学家面临的重大任务，需要采取一系列严肃的组织措施。其中尤为重要的是建立病毒学研究的科学中心，以及培养目前极为紧缺的病毒学专业人才。\n1958年2月召开了全苏植物病毒病会议。本次会议的工作无疑将对病毒学研究的进一步发展产生积极影响，并将有助于取得与先进社会主义科学相称的新成就。本文集收录了本次会议所讨论的主要问题的相关论文。\n
