This book evaluates the ecological and natural protection value of Kazakhstan's key wetlands-the Ural River Delta and the Caspian Sea coast. It covers hydrology, geology, climate, soil, vegetation, animal diversity and ecosystem protection recommendations. It is the first time that such a comprehensive study has been carried out in Kazakhstan. The global importance of the region as a habitat for migratory birds and the threat to the ecosystem from human activities were analyzed.
