This book is a comprehensive work on the physical geography of the Soviet Union, which systematically discusses the overall characteristics of the natural conditions of the Soviet territory and the laws of regional differentiation. The book is divided into two major parts: The first part summarizes the geographical location, geological structure and topography characteristics, climate and hydrological characteristics, soil and vegetation coverage and their zonal distribution laws of the Soviet Union, laying a theoretical foundation for understanding the overall pattern of the Soviet Union's natural geography; The second part takes the Russian plains and surrounding mountain systems as the object, and divides and describes them step by step according to natural zones and landscape provinces. It covers zonal zones such as tundra, forests, forest grasslands, semi-deserts, deserts, as well as mountainous areas such as Urals, Carpathian, Crimea and the Caucasus. The book combines geological history, terrain development, climatic characteristics and hydrological conditions to analyze the formation process of each major landscape unit and the distribution characteristics of its natural resources. This book can be used as a reference by geography researchers, university teachers and students, regional planning and natural resource management workers.
